Comfortable Dress for Valentines Date Night

Happy Valentines Day!

There are so many ways to dress up, without being uncomfortable.  Since this is Valentines Day, I’m going to show you an outfit, with a few different accessory options, that’s also super comfortable.  Whenever I’m getting ready, the first thing I always start with, is a question.  I ask, ‘What color am I feeling today?’  If you have never asked yourself that question, this might sound a little weird at first, but you must try it – A color almost always comes to mind immediately.  Now given that it’s Valentines, I’m a little cheesy in that I always have to dress in the proper color theme.  For example, in the fall I tend to wear a lot of browns, neutrals, oranges, olives, etc…January I tend to wear a lot of blue and so forth.  So you already know what colors I would most likely wear in February…reds, pinks, purples.   The color I chose to wear is fuchsia.  Years ago I would have never worn this color, because I thought it didn’t look good with my hair color, but now I wear all colors…I mean really, why not?  I chose a longer maxi style dress, with fabric that feels like your best pajamas. For the jacket, believe it or not, it’s a Cuddl Duds brand, so you know that’s comfortable!  Now that we have established comfort first, let’s accessorize.  I’ve chosen several different looks, to hopefully inspire you to have fun.  (Forgive me in advance, the outfit was on a hanger schlepped over my armoire , so it looks a bit messy, but I know you get the concept.)

Option 1 – Scarf

Option 2 – Plain scarf

Option 3 – Heidi Daus Necklace

Option 4 – Betsy Johnson Necklace

Option 5 – Multi strand of pearls with a brooch attached.

Option 6 – Same pearls but with the pin on the jacket.

I ended up going with option 1 and option 4, I just wore the scarf outside my collar instead.

This is the makeup I used to get a coordinating look.  I don’t like to take the pics of me in the outfits and makeup, because I want you to visualize it for yourself.  We all look so different and I want you to get excited about what you can do.  I just want to share fun, fashionable ideas, that make you feel both comfortable and beautiful.

I used the black as to line and contour my eyes, the dark plum on the lid, with the shimmer mineral powder on top.  I used the lightest shade as a highlighter under my brows.  The foundation is from Josie Maran, which is infused with Argon Oil.  I love how it feels and my skin…light and good for me.

Now for the final touch…Shoes and a handbag.

When I want to go for all comfort, these are the boots I would wear, especially if I know my husband is going to be walking me all over downtown, as he usually does. 🙂  Another tip, and why I like wearing colder month shoes, is I get to wear a soft, thick sock inside and nobody knows.  I don’t need a fresh pedicure either.  Now the trick is, I always buy boots a 1/2 size larger than what I normally wear.  So I am a size 8, but order 8 1/2 in boots…always.  Not only do they fit better, but then I can wear my comfy socks.  I paired them with this cute Kate Spade cross body.  It’s big enough to hold a wallet, my large iPhone, a mirrored compact, lipstick, TicTacs, and a travel size perfume…perfect for date night.

Here’s another cute and super affordable option…I found this wristlet bag at Charming Charlie’s, on sale for $6.  You don’t need designer bags to look put together.

Last, but not least, if you want to take a super comfy outfit, and put it into ‘yowza’ land…Just pair one of these numbers with it.  I only wear these though, if I know I’m not walking around all night.  I really hate to have sore feet.  I can walk around on concrete in these for 30+ minutes and be fine, but anything over an hour and I’m done.  There’s no reason to be that uncomfortable ladies.  If Dom tells me – oh no we won’t be walking around, and then we do…well then he owes me an amazing foot rub. 🙂

There you have it girls…my Work it Wednesday tips.  How to dress comfortably for date night and still look great!

P.S.  BTW, wouldn’t you know I’m wearing the boots and my comfy socks. 😉
